Cecil (c. 2002 – 1 July 2015) was a male Southwest African lion who lived primarily in the Hwange National Park in Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe. His dark mane suggests his dominance amongst its pride. Cecil was killed an American recreational big-game hunter. Lion size: 189.6 kg (418 lb) and 126.9 kg (280 lb) in males and females. Its head and body measures anywhere from 4.5 to 6.5 feet long, and the tail adds another 26.25 to 39.5 inches in length.
