K Burgos is a San Francisco, California based painter, designer, photographer and Artist. Her creative motifs reflect insight and interpretation of Mother Earth, Humanity, her personal convictions and Human values. Ms. Burgos works include paintings, mixed media, multimedia, and digital mediums displayed at galleries, retailers, and boardrooms throughout the World!
Born in the Philippines Katheryn's creativity was revealed at the age of 3, fascinated by the Lion, when rather than coloring she illustrated all of the pages of her first animal coloring book. Her mother amazed by her natural talent began developing Katheryns art skills enrolling her in private art classes at age 5. By age 10, Katheryn flourished presenting her artwork and creating her first oil on canvas series of paintings. The quality of her talent affirmed by the generosity of her instructors who often bartered her works for tuition.
Throughout her teens she would create and exhibit award-winning abstracts with themes of still life, landscape, seascape and competitively represent her school. At age 17, Katheryn immigrated to San Francisco, California and earned a two-year scholarship to the Academy of Arts University studying multimedia design. Perfecting her digital visual and communications design skills she entered the corporate world at an early age. Breaking barriers to her contribution to corporations and start-ups in the early days of the web generated hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars.
In 2000 further developing her skill she attended the City College of New York where she studied multimedia communications design and art. Recognized for her design capabilities her career thrived as she became an award winning director of multimedia at major agencies leading a teams of designers, developers and artists. At the birth of mobile she designed and architected 3D, videos and apps experienced by People throughout the World. After a decade in the 'Big Apple' she returned to San Francisco, California and her first Love of fine art.
Her first series the "Maˈjestyks" created in 2016 is a collection of 7 life-size painting presenting the great giants of Mother Earth. Kathryn's thesis that these Maˈjestyks bring balance to our world and act as guardians of sacred and vital geolocations. The Maˈjestyks portray her Life size interpretations of creatures in our social consciousness including; Harambe, Satao, Knut, Brutus, Cecil, Binay, and the SF Whale!
Her sophomore series Hastaghe.art was originally conceived in 2018 as a single work of 44 abstract oil on canvas paintings of hearts done in bold bright color schemes. Katheryn’s focus for the series evolved from her own experience of heartbreak, triumph of healing and sensitivity that every Human heart heals differently. Hashtaghe.art evidences the depth of her Empathy, Love of Life and it's mysteries which spring forth in this rendition of her work.
In 2018 Katheryn created multiple series including ‘Maui Beach’ a triptych large canvas series of oil and canvas based on her photography and light study while in Hawaii. ‘Maui Beach’ has been exhibited at SOMArts, presented publicly at David Rio and throughout San Francisco. In 2019 it became the basis of her ‘paint and sip events for adults and youth.
As an ArtSpan resident artist at YouthArt Exchange she has created educational and community art including the ArtWalk exhibit ‘ArtSpan Excelsior Art Windows’. Currently Katheryn is at work on her abstract oil on canvas series ‘Organic’ and ‘Hawaii Garden’ her boldest work to date. Ms. Burgos photography includes exhibited series Hawaii, Birds and SF Carnaval.
Her travels and inherent interest in understanding human and world nature all led her to the connected path of passion and purpose that evolved into the artist she is today.
